Yard Sales is an essay I created in 2013 as my final project in graduate school and it was the first project where I stepped away from my roots of photojournalistic narrative and embraced the everyday as its subject.
Everyone I talked to seemed to have their own story or reason for being there, but my interest was not in uncovering those stories. I was more interested in the visual language of these places, the way items are arranged on tables, the uncanniness of the objects out in the sun, the ways people advertised their sale, and the unintentional artistry of the mundane.
